Sabich

Sabich

Sabich or sabih (Hebrew: סביח‎ [saˈbiχ]) is an Israeli sandwich of pita or laffa bread stuffed with fried eggplants, hard boiled eggs, Salat Katzutz, parsley, amba and tahini sauce. Its ingredients are based on a traditional quick breakfast of Iraq. Sabich is sold in many businesses throughout Israel.

The sabich's roots lie in the wave of Iraqi Jews who fled their native land in the wake of anti-Semitic violence in the 1940s and 1950s.
