Pancho
Hot dogs are referred to as panchos in Uruguay, it is coming in two sizes: cortos (short ones) and largos (longer ones). These can be considered as local specialities of Uruguayan cuisine with two variants: panchos con panceta (panchos with bacon) and panchos porteños.
Panchos con panceta is grilled frankfurter that is previously wrapped on a spiral with sliced bacon and served on bread. And Panchos porteños. frankfurter wrapped with mozzarella cheese and served on bread.
Of the Uruguayan Pancho, the hotdog, or sausage, has to be longer than the bun about an inch or so to be precise. The toppings may vary depending on the region and vendors. Some of the favorite condiments are corn, mustard, cheese, onions, and salsa golf, which is a combination of mayonnaise and ketchup. Also, a must have, fries on the side, and even some topping the already loaded hotdog!
