Locos mayo (Concholepas abalone)
Locos, Cconcholepas concholepas, the Chilean abalone, is a species of large edible sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk. Despite the superficial resemblance, C. concholepas is not a true abalone, but a member of the family Muricidae, also known as murex snails or rock snails
Due to overfishing, the locos has endured fishing prohibition in the last years and so eating it is a treat reserved only for those who try really hard to find it during the times when the prohibition is lifted.
Locos is used in Chilean cuisine and is commercially marketed worldwide as a delicacy.
