Jiǎozi (餃子)
Jiǎozi (餃子) is a type of Chinese dumplings, which are a broad classification for a dish that consists of pieces of dough (made from a variety of starch sources) wrapped around a filling, or of dough with no filling (Mantou). Popular fillings are mince pork, diced shrimp, ground chicken, beef, and vegetables. They can be cooked by boiling, steaming, or frying.
With a long history of more than 1,800 years, dumplings are a traditional food widely popular in North China. In China dumplings have using a variety of dough and they are formed diferently.
Steamed yeast-leavened filled bun (Baozi-包子), soup buns (Shuǐjiǎo-水餃), soup-filled dumplings(Xiaolongbao -小籠包), Shaomai (燒賣), steamed shrimp dumplings (Har Gow-蝦餃) Wonton(餛飩/雲吞) are actually type of Chinese dumpings. Some types of the dumplings are found across regional styles of Chinese cuisine. For example, each region of China has its own variations of Wonton and Shaomai and Baozi.
