Fried Curd Cakes
These small cakes are made with traditional Lithuanian curd cheese and are coated in a mixture of flour, eggs and sugar. It is then fried and served warm with some fresh berries. Fried curd cake is typically served with fresh berries and jam, cheese curd cakes can be enjoyed at any time of day. It can be used to complement other dishes but is also beloved on its own, fried.
And don't mix up with another Lithuanian cake, the Curd cheese doughnuts (Varškės spurgos) - usually shaped as small deep-fried balls.
