Anzac biscuits

Anzac biscuits are the most well known (and popular!) biscuit recipe in Australia. ANZAC stands for "Australian and New Zealand Army Corps". The recipe which originated during World War 1, the buiscuits were  made by wives during the war and sent to soldiers, because the basic ingredients (rolled oats, flour, sugar, desiccated coconut, golden syrup, butter, bicarbonate of soda and water) were able to keep for a long time, even on long boat journeys.

These traditional Anzac biscuits are chewy and oaty, and nowadys, Brown butter Anzac biscuits are made with brown butter and honey for a perfect depth of flavour.
