Kibbeling
In the Netherlands, kibbeling is mostly consumed as a snack, but it can also be prepared for dinner, when it is recommended to pair it with French fries, a fresh salad, and a sauce of choice.
Kibbeling is always made from pieces of white fish. Traditionally, it used to be made with cod cheek. The name has been derived from kabeljauwwang (cod cheek), although nowadays a lot of kibbeling is no longer made from actual cod cheeks but from other pieces of cod, hake, or haddock.
Other Dutch dish, the Lekkerbek refers to battered, fried white fish, traditionally cod or whiting from the North Sea—the difference is that kibbeling is cut into chunks before serving, while lekkerbek is not.
