Sandwich chacarero

Sandwich chacarero

The Chacarero – which is a steak sandwich topped with mayo, tomatoes, green beans and a drizzle of hot sauce – is so delicious that it made the list of “The 13 Most Amazing Sandwiches the World Has to Offer”, according to the Time Magazine.

The name of the sandwich is derived from the Spanish word chacra, meaning farm or ranch, referring to the vegetables which are a key component of the sandwich. This sandwich has no mayonnaise or ketchup. One of the most remarkable and delicious elements in this sandwich is a unique green bean salad inside.

Chacarero Sandwiches  also called Churrasco steak sanwich  are  a traditional Chilean Street food. Because street food is made by vendors who are often local to that region, they feature ingredients and flavors that authentically represent the tastes of that area and culture. Chilean food has been influenced both by surrounding South American traditions but also by a history of attempted colonization by many different European countries. In this case is the steak sandwich.

The meal includes a thin layer of churrasco (sirloin steak) and is cooked a la plancha (on a griddle). The sandwich is served between two slices of freshly baked Chilean bread or roll.

This sandwich is traditionally made with taleras rolls, a bread that has a soft chewy interior and crispy crus, but you can use other rolls like Ciabatta roll or pan amasado.
