Sancocho

Sancocho

Sancocho is a traditional broth in several Latin American cuisines, especially the countries bordering the Caribbean Sea.. Variations represent popular national dishes in Puerto Rico, Honduras, Ecuador, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. It usually consists of large pieces of meat, tubers and vegetables served in a broth.

In a Latin American  country, there are also different versions of sancocho, these will depend on the taste of each family and of each cook. Some rules, though, seem to be almost universal: never add potatoes, noodles, or tomato sauce.

The dish Sancocho is usually prepared on special occasions since it contains many ingredients and its preparation is long.
