Medianoche

Medianoche is a type of sandwich which originated in Cuba. The sandwich is filled with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles .It is a close cousin to the Cuban sandwich (sandwich cubano).

The chief difference being that a medianoche is made on soft, sweet egg dough bread similar to Jewish challah rather than on crustier Cuban bread, often called pan medianoche or pan sauve, this bread is smaller, richer, eggier, and usually sweeter than the crusty, baguette-like bread used for cubanos. Like the Cuban sandwich, the medianoche is typically warmed in a press before eating.
