Fry jacks
Fry jacks are a traditional dish in the Belizean cuisine. They are deep fried dough pieces served as a breakfast item, and can be shaped as circles or triangles. Fry Jacks are also a Caribbean favorite bread.
Fry jacks are not unique to Belize. Different names are used in various countries different names all over the world including beignets in New Orleans, USA, sopapillas in Mexico and the American southwest, or simply ‘fried dough’.
The dish is often eaten with refried beans, eggs, cheese and avocado for breakfast.It is also served warm as an accompaniment to lunch dishes.
